Everything you need to know about setting up, scoring matches, and sync rules for WristScore.
1. Getting Started
WristScore operates as a standalone Wear OS application with an optional Android Mobile Companion app for advanced analytics. Here is how to configure them for your first game:
- • Install the Wear OS AppOpen the Google Play Store on your Wear OS watch, search for "WristScore", and download it directly.
- • Install the Mobile Companion AppDownload the companion app from the Google Play Store on your Android phone to save historical match statistics and analyze heart rate data.
- • Synchronize RulesOpen the companion app on your phone to configure preferences like dark mode, tactile score confirmation, announcer voice, and tie-breaker target. These settings are synchronized automatically to your watch (Bluetooth connection required).
2. On-Court Scoring
The watch interface is designed to keep distractions to a minimum so you can focus entirely on playing:
- • Mode SetupWhen opening the watch app, select your game format: Regular (traditional tennis scoring) or Americano (points-based). Choose who serves first to begin.
- • Inputting PointsTap the Blue Area ("Me") to score a point for yourself, or the Red Area("Opponent") to score a point for the opponent.
- • Correction / UndoTapped the wrong side? Tap the Undo button at the bottom of the watch face to instantly revert the last recorded point.
Padel and some modern tennis leagues use the Golden Point rule (no deuce advantages). When the score reaches 40-40, a single deciding point is played. You can enable this setting directly on your watch when setting up a new match.
3. Heart Rate Tracking
WristScore utilizes your watch's physical sensors to monitor cardiovascular intensity throughout matches:
To enable this, make sure to grant the Body Sensors permission when opening the app on your smartwatch. Your current heart rate will display on the scoring screen in real-time, and the session averages will map to a detailed line chart in your match logs.
4. Troubleshooting Connections
- • Watch settings are not syncingVerify that Bluetooth is enabled on both devices, the watch is actively paired with your phone, and that the WristScore app is running on both devices to allow settings to update automatically.
- • Match history is missing heart rate graphsMake sure that "Body Sensors" permission is enabled in your Wear OS system settings for WristScore. If the permission is off, the app will continue scoring but will skip gathering physical data.
