Overview

WristScore ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy details how data is handled across our Apple Watch (watchOS) and Wear OS smartwatch applications, as well as our iOS and Android mobile companion applications.

We believe in total transparency. WristScore is built on a local-first privacy philosophy. By default, your match history, game statistics, tournament rosters, and health metrics are processed and stored locally on your devices. We do not require account registration or logins, and we do not sell or monetize personal information.

Local Data Processing & Storage

Your core match activity and performance data are kept strictly under your personal control on your devices:

• • Local Match History & Statistics
  Your match scores, mode configurations, game timestamps, tournament brackets, and win/loss records are written directly to your mobile device's local database on iOS and Android. If you uninstall the application, all local match history is permanently erased.
• • Biometric & Health Data Remains 100% Local
  Optical sensor readings and heart rate data collected via Apple HealthKit (on iOS / watchOS) or Wear OS Health Services stay on your smartwatch and phone. They are stored strictly inside your local database and are never uploaded to any remote server, live stream, or third party.

Web Live Scores (Live Streaming Service)

WristScore offers an optional live streaming feature that allows you to broadcast an active match score to a public web scoreboard page (wristscore.app/live/...) so spectators can follow along in real-time.

• • User-Initiated & Optional
  Live score broadcasting is disabled by default. It only activates when you explicitly toggle on "Publish Live Score Online" for a match within the companion mobile app on iOS or Android.
• • Data Transmitted for Public Broadcasting
  When broadcasting is active, the app transmits real-time scoring state (current points, games, set scores, tiebreak score, serving player indicator, and match format) and the player names you set for that match to our cloud database (Firebase Firestore) so spectators with your link can view the scoreboard.
• • No Accounts or Personal Identity Required
  Broadcasters and spectators do not need to register, sign in, or provide personal contact details (such as email addresses or phone numbers). Each broadcast is identified solely by a generated random match identifier.
• • Health & Biometric Data Excluded
  Heart rate and biometric metrics are strictly excluded from live broadcasts and are never sent to the cloud database.
• • Broadcaster Control
  You have full control over live streaming. You can stop or turn off broadcasting at any time directly from the mobile companion app.

Permissions Explained

To provide scoring, screen retention, and health integrations, the application requests the following system permissions across iOS, watchOS, Android, and Wear OS:

• • Apple Health / HealthKit (iOS & watchOS)
  Used on Apple Watch and iPhone to monitor heart rate intensity during matches and log workout sessions. HealthKit data remains entirely on your device and is never shared, sold, or uploaded to external servers.
• • Body Sensors (Wear OS & Android)
  Used on your Wear OS watch to display your heart rate during scoring and generate the post-match intensity graph. This data is read via system sensor APIs, saved in your local database, and never transmitted over the internet.
• • Notifications & Background Sessions
  Allows WristScore to alert you of score transitions and remain active on your smartwatch during match play without the app closing or interrupting your game.
• • Display Retention / Wake Lock
  Keeps the watch display active and accessible while you are scoring, preventing the screen from sleeping mid-point during play.

Analytics Services

We may utilize anonymous, aggregate analytics on the mobile companion applications (iOS and Android) to gather completely anonymous telemetry (such as app version, device models, and general feature engagement). This helps us improve stability and monitor cross-device reliability.

Privacy & Consent: Analytics collection is disabled by default. On first launch, the mobile app prompts you for explicit consent in adherence with GDPR and App Tracking Transparency principles. You can enable or disable anonymous usage telemetry at any time in the app settings.

No Health Data Sharing: In strict accordance with Apple App Store Review Guidelines, Google Play Developer policies, and Firebase terms of service, no Apple HealthKit data, Wear OS sensor readings, biometric data, or personal match scores are ever transmitted to analytics services or third parties.
